Multilingual applications
Enable creates a true multilingual application with the ability
to alter the displayed language at any time, even when windows
are already open. Few amendments to the source code are required
and legibility is not compromised in any way.
The old approach, by contrast, does not change the nature of the
software, which remains a monolingual application, but merely
allows selection of the active language at the time of installation
or configuration. Considerable changes to the source code and
its structure are also required, which becomes much harder to
read.
Multilingual printing
In addition to producing foreign language reports, there is
often a need to print in a language selected in real time (e.g.
an invoice for a customer or an order for a vendor).
Enable allows users to print in the language of their choice without
resetting the active screen language. This enables them to maintain
control over the application, even when generating print-outs
in obscure or exotic languages.
Cost-effective localisations
One of the most common approaches to the localisation of software
is to generate a document containing strings in the original language,
with adjacent spaces for the related translations. This approach
is somewhat inflexible, especially if programs are updated regularly
(sometimes daily with custom applications): the addition of new
strings must wait for the translated documents to be returned
and the results converted for use by the software.
Enable’s language database contains all the information
needed to apply the translations. Once the database has been updated
by the various translators (simultaneously, if necessary), the
results are immediately accessible by the multilingual application.
New strings are identified automatically so that translators can
focus just on them. This avoids continually combing through the
source strings in a search for new texts and/or sending translators
the entire document for revision.
Enable exports text strings in the most common formats and automatically
imports translations into the language database for immediate
use.
Expansion of markets
